1. iRobot S8
This smart robot vacuum and mop combo is an excellent option for homes with a variety of. 2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid
While the Anker-owned Eufy has made its name in budget robot vacuums, it's never offered an all-in-one model that could also mop. That changes with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive array of modern features that can compete with more expensive models.
The laser navigation system is the most important feature of this machine. The X8 makes use of laser mapping technology that is more precise than previous Eufy devices. It also takes significantly less time to build up an accurate map of your home and can store multiple maps, which is great for multi-floor homes.
The X8 is a great vacuum cleaner for floors that are clean. It can easily sling debris through the side brushes and into its 400ml dustbin. Its tyres are also very adept at hugging edges and corners even though they are circular. Our tests showed that it was able to remove 90% of the fur on hard floors.
There's a basic mopping mode that utilizes the same water tank as the vacuuming one. This is great for spills that are not serious, but you cannot limit the amount of water it uses. However, it does an admirable job of picking up pet hair, and has a higher speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Awarded for its quiet and efficient home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum has excellent cleaning power, beautiful design, and a great navigation. It has a few oddities in its operation that keep it from being ranked as the top smart robot vacuum.
Similar to the latest models of iRobot like the RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping system that utilizes a LIDAR sensor to map a room and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to identify and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once the room is mapped, the app lets you assign virtual no-go areas and favorite sections that the robot will clean automatically. You can also initiate an automatic clean or manually change the cleaning mode, watch live feeds from the onboard cameras, and more on the main screen.
The RX2 has superior sensors that can identify furniture and other obstructions in a flash. The suction and sweeping capabilities are excellent, getting rid of surface litter from medium pile carpeting and also removing dust that has been deposited on floors. However, it's not exactly the most agile robot on the market. It's not the greatest climber, and it has problems with transition strips made of steel.
Many people purchase a robot vacuum for the hands-off convenience of setting up a schedule using an app and then forgetting about it for weeks at a time. It's important for a robot to be capable of the task and that's why our ZDNet staff has tested and examined some of the most popular models to help you select the best one for your house.
4. Shark ION
This round, budget robovac looks just like your standard robot, however it's upgraded in terms of performance and features. Its smart mapping system creates 2D and 3D maps of your home and uses those to navigate and avoid obstacles. It's also able to detect common obstructions such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors, together with a bump sensor and an infrared sensor for dropping that keeps it away from steps, makes it one of the most agile vacs we've tried.
In our tests, it was able to climbed over thick shag rug and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation skills were impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring was higher than the competition, and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of surface litter and embedded dog hair from our laboratory test samples.
The controls are more basic than competitors. There's a round cleaning button on the top. You can start it from the app, or by voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also create a schedule for daily or weekly cleans, set no-go zones, and view the history of its cleaning. Covered in stylish dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and is attractive in your home. The dust bin on the rear is accessible for emptying and removing the filter just as simple.
5. Eufy 11S
Eufy 11S is an excellent choice if you want a vacuum cleaner that is easy to use and simple at a reasonable price. It doesn't have many of the smart features, such as digital mapping and Alexa integration, found in more expensive models, but if you're not looking for these features, you can save some money with this model.

6. IRobot Roomba 980
The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey but it's top-performing and is arguably the most sophisticated robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self navigation and environmental mapping are a wonder to behold. It also has more advanced automation features than its competitors, including the ability to set virtual boundary markers using its mobile app. Although the application is a bit slow and the 980 can spin out a bit while rolling over cables, it's still a very capable robot vacuum.
We love the 980 because it uses its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneity localisation and mapping (or vSLAM) to store the floor plan of your home. It will then use this information to design an efficient and consistent cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum than most high-end robots.
Other features of the 980 include two multi-surface rubber brushes which pick up dirt from carpet and hard floors, along with an ejector brush that moves debris into the bin of the robotic vacuum. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate between furniture and around edges, while Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It will also return to the base station to allow for recharges between sessions. Although the 980's battery lifespan and bin size aren't quite as efficient as other robot vacuums, it's a solid and reliable machine that will keep your floors clean for hours and hours.
